Sloppy Joes

I cannot make sloppy joes without thinking of this:

But on to my recipe!

That Girl's Sloppy Joes

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups sweet onion, chopped
1 large carrot, diced fine
1 celery rib, diced fine
1 jalapeno, seeded and diced fine
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup beer (nothing too bitter!)
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Hamburger buns

Heat olive oil in large pan over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery and jalapeno and cook until just beginning to soften, about 10 minutes.

Add ground beef and cook until all pink is gone, about 5 minutes.

Stir in beer, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, and garlic powder. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid has cooked down. Adjust seasonings.

Serve with toasted buns.
